Meditating With Animals

The fun part of working with animals, or having them in your life, is you just never know what they might do. Never a dull moment!

The internet and You Tube are filled with funny and crazy animal videos. With that in mind, I thought I might share with you what the 21-day Meditation Program has been like for me behind the scenes.

(If you don’t already know, I am offering a 21-day Meditation with your Animals Program right now to support you during this “challenging” time on earth. There are several goals that I had when creating this program including; spending a moment each day with your animal companions, relaxing your physical body, quieting your busy and worried mind, creating a new routine, finding a moment of peace, and much more.)

I know that some of you stopped reading this when you got to the word MEDITATION!

Often people tell me, “I don’t DO that (meditation)!” Or “I don’t like that!”

I used to feel the same way. Boy have I totally changed my mind and my life, for the better I might add. 😉

I thought that there was only one kind of meditation or one way to meditate, sitting on the floor crossed legged chanting OM. I have a feeling that I would love that practice now, but I digress.

There are so many different ways to meditate.

Meditation is simply the act of breathing in and out while relaxing your body and quieting your mind. There are so many different ways to meditate including sitting, standing and even walking.

For me the best way is to BE in silence with an animal or many animals.

Nathan meditating with me

My animal companions (and many animal friends both domestic and wild) have taught me the how of meditating. All you need to do is watch them and learn by their example.

Luna meditating

Have you ever watched a feline while they are meditating? They are fully present and aware of their surroundings while fully relaxed and usually have their eyes closed.

Today our kitty Max was with me before, during and after today’s live meditation group meditation.

Sister Luna takes one look at what Max is up to and decides she will join the meditation in a quieter spot in the house.

Max has one more check on the world outside as a family of cardinals sing in the azalea bushes by the window.

Max decides to help supervise me getting ready for the live ZOOM meditation meeting.

Max says it is really important to find the right spot to settle in for a deep meditation.

Max ready

Max tells me that it is time to begin.

He started without us. I explained to him that I start at exactly 11am each morning. Of course that makes no sense to him. Why wait? NOW is the best time. 😉

And now you know that there are many ways to meditate. Meditation is BEING and listening. Try it now with your own animal companion/s and don’t forget the wild animals. They will respond to you in a different way when you are quiet and BEING and your heart will smile.

Below is an audio segment of the meditation that we practiced today. I hope you enjoy it…
